We identified horse's gait, show how overall performance can be affected by correct bitting, shoeing, conformation, setting frame, posture, and tack.
(70 minutes) Lonnie shows examples of trotty going horses and what can be done to smooth out their gait. With proper shoeing, bitting, conditioning most horses can be trained to add more swing to their gait. There is emphasis on the horse before he has developed bad habits
(51 minutes) Without using extreme shoeing or harsh training methods, Lonnie shows how to bring the pacey horse from hollow and rough to rounded and smooth. Stresses teaching the horse the proper use of their body.
(90 minutes) Lonnie and farrier Larry Mullins show how correct shoeing will improve the gait of the TWH. They dispel the misconception that the walking horse needs vastly different shoeing techniques for pleasure riding. Also covered, in great detail, is the difference between various kinds of bits and what you may expect from using them. That the correct bit can change the head carriage resulting in an immediate improvement in the gait, is an example.
